Antje Potthast Named “BOKU Erfinderin 2025”

The Cluster of Excellence Circular Bioengineering proudly congratulates Univ.-Prof. Antje Potthast on receiving the prestigious BOKU Erfinderin 2025 award.

Presented annually by the BOKU University, the “BOKU Erfinderin des Jahres” prize recognizes outstanding female scientists whose inventions and research achievements demonstrate exceptional creativity, innovation, and real-world impact. The award aims to make women’s contributions to science more visible and to inspire future generations of researchers.
With her pioneering work in lignocellulose chemistry and sustainable material innovation, Antje Potthast has established herself as an internationally recognized researcher and leader in a field still largely male-dominated. Her research bridges academic excellence and industrial collaboration, advancing sustainable processes within the paper, cellulose, and fiber industries.

Within the Cluster, she serves as a Member of the Board of Directors, Deputy Director of the Research Unit, Director of the Training Unit, and Program Lead, contributing her exceptional expertise and leadership across multiple areas.
